Community Guy: 2008: Year of the Kick Ass

  • Andy Sernovitz · 2 years ago
    Good thoughts these are.

Don't know why speaking like Yoda I am.

Welcome to the life of the entrepreneur. The hardest part isn't the work. it's staying focused and pumped up.

Lean on your friends, ignore those who haven't done it themselves. If you're not working for your self, you just don't understand.

    Read:
    Rules for Revolutionaries
    Swim With the Sharks
Dilbert (to remind you why you don't work for anyone)

And take time to relax and regroup at least once per quarter.

Good for you Jake, but while it is simple...I suspect that it won't be easy? Some years back I had the opportunity to grow my company, or stay a small shop, and I chose the latter for many of the same reasons you mention.

I've funded several (albeit small) Kiva loans, set up an online community for landmine removal, and one for a micro lending site in Kenya. Do I miss the excitement of speaking and travel...sometimes, but not often.

I'm convinced (for today at least) that happiness is a byproduct of right living, whatever that means for each of us,

    Best luck
